First off I complement your magazine for considering doing a test of this nature, however have some concerns/comments:
1 – For your test to be valid, you should be using retail units, not units supplied by the manufacture. I have been in this business for several years and it is not unusual for a company to provide a “juiced unit” for a test, to beat out the competition.
2 – Radar detector companies (and dealers like myself) get hundreds of requests a year from magazines or what ever to have units sent to them for testing. Most are legitimate, but there are allot of bogus tests just to get free samples and no testing is ever done. So for now, most companies stick with the larger testing events such as the SML Radar Detector Shoot-Out in El Paso.
3 – Several of the companies that you are requesting product from, would never send anything out for one reason, contractual agreements. As an example, Beltronics/Escort is the same company and they have a contact with Target International to be their EU representative. Part of this contact also prohibits the Escort products from being sold in EU.
4 – If you are interested in product, let me know, we maybe able to work something out, such as. Selling the products to you at cost, then after you test the products you would return them to us for a refund, you would only pay the shipping. We would require however that you provide credit to our company and website for this.

My name is Stefano Ambrosini and i'm the editor in chief of a new
italian magazine about sport cars tests.
The magazine' name is VELOCELEBRI.
We have the autorization of the main sport brands like ferrari, lamborghini, pagani...
we want to make a comparison test on real word on the italian street...
we make an article for the new top sport's car magazine in italy (www.velocelebri.it)...
the site will coming soon on the end of september and tests only sports
cars.(1st tests are lotus exige, noble m12 gto, tvr sagaris)
we sent to all the company who produce Radar Detector or Laser Jammer any infos or test units to make a test...
Now we have this answer:
- Valentine Research: no test unit for review.
- Escort: no answer (we resend it today)
- Beltronics: no answer (we resend it today)
- Cobra: no answer (we resend it today)
- Whistler: no answer (we resend it today)
- Anti Laser: probably a test unit
- Blinder: gave probably a unit at dealer prize...
- Lidatek: no answer (we resend it today)
Any opinion?

First you need some test drivers
Second: First analyse what type of equipment the police have over there. So send an email to the police.
We have very good epxerience with Bel products, Lidatek and the new LT-400 from Target Automotive

Please send us details about the equipment that the police uses in italy, with pictutres if possible.
Which freqs they use?
It's not evident that your situation is comparable with ours.

Those cars actually I would not want to have. For every day driving, I would be to scared of scratches, dents, doors of other cars when opening crashing into mine. It would destroy my fun. So I prefer a average looking car, with some power under the hood.
Bu if you want to test detectors, we have plenty of oppurtunities to test them here. So if you want to come over, you would be more then welcome.
See our driving circuit for testing: http://flitsservice.com/flitsservice/me ... ndaag.aspx
Our current radartraps So you wont have to look to far.......

Radar Bosch: If this is a fixed camera, then this works with induction loops in the road, not with radar: Only POI will help you
Multanova: Bel 966 (Target Automotive) or Bel 975 will be good. First because it is a hidden install, behind the bumper, out of sight.
Autovelox: Have seen it, no clue how it works. You should go to the Intertraffic fair next year in Amsterdam Rai. You could look upclose to it.
Laser: Lidatek or Target LT-400 will work very good
Autobox: Don't know what that is.
Provida: Videocars: Look at the cars you overtake and regularly check your mirrors for cars chasing you
Traffipax is the same as our Gatso: The detectors mentioned above will work very good on these. Cheaper models will also work well on this type of radar.

For the Autovelox? Right now: Nothing. We don't know how it exactly works and we don't have it in Holland.
With the optospeed, there is a wireless connection between camera and measuring unit. You are able to jam this.
Induction loops are like the loops in the road in front of a stoplight. They are cables that measure thru magnetism the presence of a car. Put 2 loops behind each other and you can measure speed.
You would see them with the Bosch Traffiphot just in front of the fixed camera pole.
